What: Primary File Server When: Sunday Sep 17, 11:00 PM Ending: Monday, Sep 18, 07:00 AM Why: Operating System Upgrade The following services will be intermittent during the outage window: BigPapa Directories LOP access CVS and Subversion Starting at 11:00 PM, services will be failed over to our backup server. Switching services back after the upgrade will cause a series of intermittent hangups, so my advice is to not do any mission critical operations during the outage window. If your desktop machine [running Linux] is set to have your home directory on BigPapa, this outage will prevent you from logging into your machine periodically throughout the outage window. If this case applies to you, and you need to use your machine during this time, create yourself a local account with a different name [from your BigPapa user name] on your machine, and copy any data you need to your hard drive. All systems will be restored no later than 7:00 AM Monday. Have a good weekend! -- Michael J.
