The outage window was selected to cause the least inconvenience. _What:_ We will be taking down our primary file server and failing over to our backup file server. This is the second step in upgrading the operating systems on our file server infrastructure. Prior to this happening, the CPU will be upgraded in our backup file server. Due to a number of other configuration optimizations, I will be working on throughout the night, you may experience intermittent periods of downtime during the outage window. _The following services will be intermittent during the outage window:_ BigPapa Home Directories LOP access CVS and Subversion If your desktop machine [running Linux] is set to have your home directory on BigPapa, this outage will prevent you from logging into your machine periodically throughout the outage window. If this case applies to you, and you need to use your machine during this time, create yourself a local account with a different name [from your BigPapa user name] on your machine, and copy any data you need to your hard drive. _When:_ Start time: 10:30 PM, Sunday End time: 6:30 AM, Monday There will be another (albeit, shorter) outage window, when the servers will resume their original roles. This will be announced next week. -- Michael J. This change is part of the process in upgrading our file servers, and offers a less hostname-dependent access method to Subversion. To update your local working copies, visit the Intranet, and contact me with any questions or issues in switching to the new repository location. http://www.autonlab.org/auton_intranet/ http://www.autonlab.org/auton_intranet/16730.html -- Michael J. This lets you browse CVS repository without having to check anything out of CVS. It also lets you create snazzy looking diffs between versions. I have added this and the new Subversion repo to the navigation bar on the Auton Intranet site. https://www.autonlab.org/cvs/ http://www.autonlab.org/auton_intranet/ Enjoy, -- Michael J. Its pretty handy! When you go to: https://www.autonlab.org/cvs/, put your auton lab (ie lop1) username and password in the dialog that pops up. When you browse to a specific file, try out the 'long colored' option for doing diffs (at the bottom of the page). Thanks for setting this up Mike! -Jeanie Michael J.
