FYI- These might be good training datasets for some of our active
learning-related projects.
Best,

Hi,
I thought you might be interested in entering the "active learning" challenge that just started.
See: http://clopinet.com/al
You don't need any prior experience with active learning to enter but you might learn about it if you do.
It is a problem a lot harder than it looks and solving it would have impact in many applications
in biology, medicine, pattern recognition, marketing, web mining, etc. Aside having lots of fun,
you will have the opportunity to go to 2 workshops in Spain and Italy and publish in IEEE proceedings and JMLR.
You may win 3200 USD in prizes and earn travel awards to go to the workshops.
And, if you (or your students) are among the top ranking participants, this will look really good on your CV
(I get several request of reference from past challenge participants every year and they all get good jobs).
Happy holidays,
Isabelle
