This replaces fixed-rule agents with learning agents that adapt dynamically, without parametric training (e.g. gradient descent), while remaining cognitively interpretable. ?We show how this is achieved by grounding the architecture in *Statistical Learning Theory*, enabling it to perform both *Supervised Learning* (regression, classification) and *Reinforcement Learning*. The framework can be extended to support other learning paradigms (e.g. *Multi-agent RL* to account for *group-level decision making*) and to integrate components such as *LLMs* for additional capabilities. We demonstrate the framework in the context of epidemiological simulations, but the methodology is applicable to social simulations, policy modeling, and beyond. If you have any questions, feedback, or thoughts, feel free to email me - I would be happy to discuss. Here are the notable changes and additions: - Visual-location and aural-location features have a new attended status called requested which is true between the request to attend the feature and when that attention shift competes. - The audio module has a way to present a sound without a pre-specified end time using new-ongoing-sound and end-ongoing-sound. - The speech module has the option of using syllable counts for words from a dictionary instead of just using the string length. It is added as an extra (syllable-count) to avoid the overhead when not needed. - The tutorial units have an additional document that is a cumulative summary of the production syntax and action semantics covered to that point. - There are Jupyter notebook pages for editing and running the demos and assignments of the tutorial in JupyterLab. They are not a replacement for the tutorial unit texts, just a way to view and run the code. The standalone distributions have a run_ACT-R.ipynb file at the top level as a starting point with a cell to run the ACT-R software and links to the individual unit notebooks. This is a very simple first pass/proof of concept, and if you use it please let me know any feedback you have. If you have any questions or problems with this version let me know.
