ICCM will be held in 2021.  It will be held with MathPsych.  Deadline will probably be around the same time as last year. Last year it was 17 April, and the year before it was 2 April, so you might anticipate a similar date.

3)  ICCM timers turned into Zoom meeting timers

     http://acs.ist.psu.edu/timers

We have been using the ICCM talk timers to give a sense of pace to Zoom calls here. Then, we went wild and made some seasonal ones. There are Halloween, Thanksgiving (either US or CA), Christmas, and now a winter one. They
  come in multiple time periods (60, 55, 50, 45, 30, 20, 15, 10, 8, 5, 3,
2, 1). These have a 10 min. question period included. It is an
interesting use case of usability. I use them in class and meetings.
This one has one Easter egg in it.  They have been banned by Faculty Senate and a local governmental board, so you know they are good. We will provide some further updates as we go along. Please consider it pandemic art.

part of the project, we have constructed a brief survey to gauge the
computational model usages from various domains/communities, and the
value that such an exchange format would have. We would greatly
appreciate it if you would take a few moments to provide us with
information regarding the modeling environments you use frequently, and
the benefits and/or challenges you would see for developing such an
exchange format.

A group based at PSU has created a tutor to teach skills to obstruct pandemics (https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fstopthespread.health%2F&data=04%7C01%7Ciccm-l%40lists.psu.edu%7C6e1d30c6cb084b4e108d08d8d9e00763%7C7cf48d453ddb4389a9c1c115526eb52e%7C0%7C0%7C637498903511188411%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=uGjjwH07I38noBWM5qSiRPNxUnjpZLTXc3HOpB6y2GA%3D&reserved=0), how to not catch COVID. It teaches the details of the theory of transmission and herd immunity. It then teaches how to socially distance, how to wear public personal protective equipment (PPPE), how to wash your hands, and how to stay well. We also have a

  1-credit course on it now.

There is an associated book now available

Paul Thagard’s book, Natural Philosophy, in Chapter 9 has a romp through numerous
and an impressive range of cultural references. I knew many of them but did not know
all of them.  I used some time and resources to create an annotated page of what the
references are, and in many cases can share them (e.g., YouTube videos, Wikipedia
articles, pictures).  I know that going through them all is more than an hour lecture, because I have
tried.  Digesting them all may be a 3 credit course in culture, both high and low (if pop music is low).

21)  Program officer positions

There are always program officer positions going in the DC area. If you are
interested and want help on applying or know more, email *and* call.  I have heard
of one that may be open, and have thought it would be appropriate to help
recruit such people in general.  Also call, because I tend to get overwhelmed
by email. I looked at being one (but did not ever become one), but would like
to help the agencies involved.

In grad school, Norm (who started normalized curves and social norms, among

other things), recommended this radio show.  I’ve come to appreciate it even

more this past year, it provides “slow music for fast times”.   I often listen to it while I write.
