3) ICCM timers turned into Zoom meeting timers

We have been using the ICCM talk timers to give a sense of pace to Zoom calls here. Then, we went wild and made some seasonal ones. There are Halloween, Thanksgiving (either US or CA), Christmas, and now a winter one. They
come in multiple time periods (60, 55, 50, 45, 30, 20, 15, 10, 8, 5, 3,
2, 1). These have a 10 min. question period included. It is an
interesting use case of usability. I use them in class and meetings.
This one has one Easter egg in it. They have been banned by Faculty Senate and a local governmental board, so you know they are good. We will provide some further updates as we go along. Please consider it pandemic art.

Paul Thagard’s book, Natural Philosophy, in Chapter 9 has a romp through numerous
and an impressive range of cultural references. I knew many of them but did not know
all of them. I used some time and resources to create an annotated page of what the
references are, and in many cases can share them (e.g., YouTube videos, Wikipedia
articles, pictures). I know that going through them all is more than an hour lecture, because I have
tried. Digesting them all may be a 3 credit course in culture, both high and low (if pop music is low).

aims to support the pan-European interactive technologies effort both
in industry and academia, through the multi-user interactions within AR
technologies evaluated in a range of educational contexts in both public
and private contexts. Through systematic application of Human-Centered
Design approaches, ARETE will deliver highly usable, useful and
desirable AR technologies and contents, leading to a wider uptake and
further stimulating their creative usage.
In this role you will draw on specific expertise and experience in
Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) to help design and evaluate ARETE
digital artefacts. You will have the opportunity to research on the
emerging Mixed Reality technologies, such as HoloLens.
You will have the opportunity to publish high quality scientific work
in journals and at conferences, and will work intensively with the ARETE
team in Leicester and in several European countries.

With a PhD degree, or near completion in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) or

expand its Neuroscience Programme (CNP) with one Junior Group Leader
(Assistant Professor equivalent).
About you
We welcome applicants with expertise in modern Machine Learning and
Artificial Intelligence. Suitable research areas for the recruited
applicant include statistical methods for complex, high-dimensional
datasets, artificial neural networks, computer vision, reinforcement
learning, and control theory. We will consider candidates that work on
foundational issues in these fields, as well as candidates who take more
applied approaches. The ideal candidate should present a research
program with both fundamental research and applied elements, and have a
strong desire to collaborate with existing teams within CR and CF,

To promote risk-taking research, generous support for salary, start-up

approaches to understand the algorithmic, physiological and circuit
