This past weekend on 60 minutes there was a story on perfect episodic memory. Unfortunately, the researcher who discovered this is calling it "superior autobiographical memory" which is unfortunate because it is clearly a discovery of memory for episodic events. Anyway, after MRI scans of these people, it was found that they had larger than normal temporal lobes and a larger caudate nucleus - which appears to indicate that perhaps "normal" people are limited by brain capacity to remember every episode in their lives. There also appears to be a relationship between perfect episodic memory and OCD tendencies since the caudate nucleus appears to be connected to OCD.
Anyway, interesting story for any memory researcher.
