How a model finds an item to attend depends on the features which the device makes
available for the objects.  For the built in devices the features are screen
position (x and y coordinates), color, height, width, size, and kind.  If one
creates their own device then they can make any features they want available to
the model in the feature chunks.

If you have not done so already, I would suggest reading through and working on
the exercises in units 2 and 3 of the ACT-R tutorial because they cover the
standard operation of the vision module.
