(apologies for any duplicate postings...)

Colleagues,

We are seeking submissions for a 2006 AAAI Spring Symposium entitled:

"Between a Rock and a Hard Place: Cognitive Science Principles Meet

AI-Hard Problems". The goal of the symposium is to generate discussion

and exchange about the benefits the study of human intelligence can

bring to AI and, as importantly, what AI can contribute to the study of

human intelligence, focusing especially on computationally hard problems.

A description of the symposium may be found at the AAAI SSS website:
http://www.aaai.org/Symposia/Spring/2006/sssparticipation-06.html#ss02

A slightly expanded description of the symposium is attached.

Participant submissions are due *October 7, 2005*. Contributions can be

in the form of either 6-page papers or short 2-page white papers.

Papers should take positions on one or more of the questions posed in

the symposium description, using examples from the author(s)'s own work

or synthesizing other works into coherent patterns. Notification of

acceptance will be given in early November.

The workshop will be structured in a number of sessions each centered

around one of the organizing questions. Each session will include a

substantial discussion session between panel presenters and workshop

participants.

The 2006 AAAI Spring Symposia will be held March 27-29, 2006 at Stanford

University, California. Additional details about the AAAI Spring

Symposia may be found via the URL above.

Thank you and your attention and potential interest in this Symposium.
