>
> We have a post-study debriefing mini-survey that we would like you to append to your deception experiment. This two-question mini-survey asks participants questions to measure how they feel about the use of deception in your experiment. You will be able to use the data we collect for any ethical discussion you choose to include in your paper, and to assure your IRB that you’ve taken additional steps to identify unforeseen harms from your experimental design. We’ve been using earlier versions of this survey in our own experiments and have found it invaluable.
>
> Your assistance will also allow us to gauge how participants’ feelings about deception change under different experimental conditions, and to contribute to the growing literature on empirical research ethics. We intend this research to help the scientific community understand the conditions under which participants find deception to be justified and ways to perform experiments so that participants will support the use of deception.
>
> You can find a sample of our survey at:
> https://www.ethicalresearch.org/Ethics.aspx
>
> The questions are randomized. If you reload a few times, you can see how they change.
>
> We’d love to hear from you, regardless of whether you have a deception study ready to roll or if you’re just intrigued about helping out in the future.
