<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">We have a vacancy for a PhD candidate in “Interactive visualization of spectral images in a museum setting” at the Department of Computer Science, NTNU, in Gjøvik, Norway. The appointment has a duration of 4 years with
25% teaching duties in agreement with the department.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">Hyperspectral imaging (HSI) is a technology that was initially developed for earth observation, but recently has been exploited for various fields, including art and conservation. Despite being a complex technology, HSI
has clear advantages in science communication. It generates images, thus providing readily available visual materials. Furthermore, HSI images cover information human eyes simply cannot see, which means a great potential for creating an engaging and interactive
visualization. The target of visualization application is a museum setting. This is a unique project aiming to advance the scientific communication of spectral imaging research by incorporating graphic design principles, and with a team of supervisors from
complementary expertise, i.e., spectral imaging, interaction design, and conservation science.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">The PhD candidate will focus on developing an interactive visualization for spectral images for stakeholders in a museum setting, for example conservators or museum visitors. Graphic design principles will be adopted
in the creation of the visualization, facilitated by experts from the Department of Design, NTNU. As part of the creation of the visualization, research in relevant spectral imaging topic for art and conservation will be conducted, and to be identified based
on the area of visualization application.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
