        <span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:13px;">Recent advances in human–robot interaction (HRI) are playing an increasingly pivotal role in a wide spectrum of robots, ranging from household to industrial, and from virtual interaction to closely physical collaboration. Due to the core function in HRI systems, numerous efforts and intensive attentions are paid to sensing, estimating, and analyzing the continuous and high-dimensional human movements so as to semantically decode and reflect motor intent and even latent beliefs of human motor control. The purpose of this Special Issue is therefore to describe the state of the art in human neuromuscular and cognitive behaviors reflected by human movements and to present the challenges associated with leveraging such knowledge in human-centered design and control of HRI systems.</span>
