and machine collective intelligence, explainable AI, counterfactual reasoning in intelligence analysis, human performance optimization, and social media bot detection and threat characterization. The Cognitive

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">1) PhD in Cognitive Science, Psychology, Neuroscience, or Social Behavioral Sciences. Individuals with doctoral degrees in related disciplines may also apply.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">2) Creative mindset. We seek candidates who enjoy developing their own original research ideas, who appreciate lively brainstorming sessions, and who are willing to venture outside their technical comfort
zones.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">3) Experience in designing and running experiments involving human participants, including familiarity with IRB procedures and processes.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">4) Exceptional computational and data analysis skills. The candidate must be familiar with current best practices in statistical data analysis.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">5) Strong interpersonal and communication skills. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;color:black">2) Prior experience on research projects funded by the US Department of Defense (e.g., DARPA, ONR, AFRL, ARO) involving national security-related topics and use cases.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">3) Experience with collective intelligence research topics and paradigms, including “wisdom of crowds” and team cognition.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;color:black">4) Experience running experiments using online, distributed participant populations (e.g., Amazon Mechanical Turk).<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">5) Expertise in one or more cognitive modeling paradigms, such as ACT-R or Bayesian modeling frameworks.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:12.0pt"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">6) Familiarity with current approaches in statistical AI and machine learning.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
