Postdoctoral Research Associate in Neural Engineering

University of Essex - School of Computer Science and Electronic
Engineering

The School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering (CSEE) and
the Essex BCI and Neural Engineering Lab are pleased to announce
this postdoctoral position in the Horizon 2020 project "DeTOP:
Dexterous Transradial Osseointegrated Prosthesis with neural control
and sensory feedback". The project started approximately 2 years ago
and will run until the end of February 2010.

Web site: http://www.detop-project.eu/

DeTOP's aim is to develop osseointegrated prostheses (i.e.
prostheses with a direct skeletal attachment) for transradial
amputees. We are developing a novel prosthetic hand with improved
functionality, smart mechatronic devices for safe implantable
technology, and novel paradigms for natural control (action) and
sensory feedback (perception) of the prosthesis through the implant.

The Essex team is working on the development of robust
neuro-muscular control algorithms for decoding users' intentions and
enabling efficient control of the hand-wrist prosthesis.

The successful applicant will have received a PhD in Biomedical
Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science or
a closely related discipline. The ideal candidate will have
significant experience in neural engineering, neuro-muscular signal
processing and programming on embedded platforms. Applicants are
also expected to have a strong publication record as first author,
ideally including publications in 1st quartile journals in relevant
areas.

Appointment will be made as Senior Research Officer.

Job reference: REQ01292
Application closing date: 15/05/2018
Salary: £32,548 - £34,521 per annum
