description: This project will develop neural network models to investigate the
mechanisms by which neural circuits encode and transmit information about the
sensory environment. In particular, the successful candidate will model the
role of specific classes of excitatory and inhibitory neurons in shaping
cortical information processing. The successful candidate will have the
opportunity to interact with the collaborating IIT laboratory of Dr Tommaso
Fellin, that performs neurophysiological and optogenetic experiments to test
the model predictions.</span></h2>
