The Idiap Research Institute seeks qualified candidates for three PhD
student positions in deep learning for natural language, one focussing
on neuroscience and two focussing on representation learning.  These
researchers will work with Dr. James Henderson
<https://www.idiap.ch/~jhenderson/> in the Natural Language
Understanding group
<https://www.idiap.ch/en/scientific-research/natural-language-understanding>.

Idiap offers competitive salaries, a beautiful location, and a
world-class AI research community.  PhD students are registered at
EPFL.  The researcher in deep learning and the neuroscience of language
will work also in collaboration with Dr. Itsaso Olasagasti of Univ.
Geneva's Fundamental Neuroscience Dept and Dr. Phil Garner of Idiap, and
will benefit from visits to Campus Biotech in Geneva. This position is
part of the Swiss center of excellence (NCCR) project: Evolving
Language.  The two researchers in representation learning for NLP will
be part of a Swiss NSF project building on our recent Bayesian extension
of Transformers.

The ideal PhD candidates should hold a Masters degree in computer
