Dear all,
We are seeking candidates for an open position at University of Naples Parthenope on topics related to exoplanets atmosphere retrieval.

Position: atmospheric exoplanet retrieval from spectroscopy with machine learning techniques (as part of the Progetto PNRR – PRIN 2022 “ESPLORA: Exoplanet Spectroscopy at high resolution to Probe their Lost Origins by Revealing their Atmospheric compositions”, PI: A. Bonomo) – application deadline is March, 1st 2024, and the successful candidate is expected to start their position in March/April 2024 at University of Naples Parthenope, Italy.

Requirement: Master Degree in Computer Science or Physics

Brief Description of Research Program: The successful candidate will focus on developing a new retrieval framework for exoplanet atmospheres of wide applicability, across wavelength and resolutions. The fellow will primarily collaborate with Alessio Ferone, at the Parthenope University of Naples, working closely with other colleagues who are experts in machine learning and exoplanetary science in the Napoli area.  The fellow will also collaborate with the GAPS group (https://theglobalarchitectureofplanetarysystems.com/) for determining the atmospheric properties (composition, clouds, dynamics) of a sample of extrasolar planets, using high spectral resolution observations from the optical to the near-infrared.
