The Institute for Complex Systems at the National Research Council in
Florence (Italy) invites applications for a one year Postdoctoral Scholar
in the fields of *computational neuroscienc**e*,* complex networks and
nonlinear dynamics*. The successful applicant is expected to work closely
with a multidisciplinary research team led by Dr. Simona Olmi on problems
related to neuroscience. Specific topics of interest include but are not
limited to the investigation of biologically realistic large-scale brain
activity, the emergence of coupling between neural oscillations in neural
architectures, the derivation of neural mass models in presence of
short-term synaptic plasticity and/or spike-frequency adaptation as well as
applications on brain structural connectivity matrices. Successful
candidates are expected to primarily conduct computational and data driven
research taking advantage of our international network of experimental
collaborators and/or clinical partners. More information about the
Computational Neuroscience Group in Florence and our current research is
available at https://www.firenze-neuro.org/

Candidates should already have received a PhD in Physics, Mathematics,
Engineering before the start of the fellowship. A strong background either
in statistical physics, nonlinear dynamics, computational physics and/or in
computational neurosciences is required. Solid programming skills in C
and/or Fortran and/or Python are mandatory. *Deadline for application: May
20, 2024*. Possible start dates are between July 1, 2024 and September 1,
2024. It is in no way possible to start on a date later than 1 September 1,
2024. The position is for one year and includes an annual stipend of
26.000,00 euros (net salary).

Applicants are also encouraged to send in one PDF file their CV with a list
of publications, brief statement of research interests and their possible
start dates to simona.olmi at cnr.it before May 20 2024. We strive for a
diverse and inclusive environment and encourage applications from members
of any identity.

*About Florence and Institute For Complex Systems (ISC)*

The founding idea of the ISC was to create a scientific institution that
could represent a national and international pole of excellence in the
field of complexity from its origins in physics and also towards its
interdisciplinary applications., like in our case, neuroscience. Cradle of
the Renaissance, romantic, enchanting and utterly irresistible, Florence
(Firenze) is a place to feast on world-class art and gourmet Tuscan cuisine.
