Dear colleagues,

I would appreciate it if you would bring these positions to the attention of anybody who may be interested in them.

The National University of Ireland Galway, which is ranked in the top 1% of universities in the world, is seeking to recruit three excellent people for new roles as we expand and grow our School of Computer Science:

  * A permanent lecturer position in Computer Science (roughly equivalent to tenured assistant professorships in North America)
  * Two contract lecturer positions in Computer Science, initially for 1 year, renewable

We have a deep commitment to equality and diversity, including achieving equality of opportunity for all staff, irrespective of their gender.

The deadline for applications is 12 Feb (contract posts) and 26 Feb (permanent post).

You can find more information, including job specs and how to apply, here:

About the Posts:

Research contribution is of fundamental importance in the role. It is anticipated that the new appointee(s) will develop an outstanding research programme in a relevant area of Computer Science, attracting R&D funding in fundamental and applied research areas. The appointee(s) will also be required to develop national and international collaborations with academia and industry. The new appointee(s) will be expected to disseminate their work through peer-reviewed journals and high-impact conferences.

While applications are invited from any branch of Computer Science, we are particularly interested in candidates whose teaching and research specialisms complement those of the Discipline of Information Technology, in domains including but not limited to: artificial intelligence; machine learning; cloud computing; complex information visualisation; data analytics; computer forensics and cybersecurity; trust and privacy; complex and adaptive systems; embedded systems; digital media and games; and software engineering & quality.

The successful candidate(s) will be required to contribute strongly to teaching fundamental and applied computer science on our portfolio of undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes, as well as participating in programme administration, programme promotion, and outreach activities. The appointed candidate(s) will be expected to develop new curricula, prepare course materials, deliver course work, supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in their project work, and conduct related administrative duties..

Best regards,
Michael.
