Geoff Goodhill's lab at the University of Queensland is looking for a postdoc to analyse and model large-scale calcium imaging behavioural data from larval zebrafish. The salary range is AU$75k-87k (US$58-67k).

This position provides an ideal opportunity to work on richly structured datasets of neural activity. Our goal is to understand how neural coding develops in the vertebrate brain, using the larval zebrafish as a model. We are looking for a postdoc focused on data analysis, machine learning and modelling, who will work closely with others in the lab who are performing the experiments. The data currently being generated includes 2-photon and light-sheet imaging of both spontaneous and evoked activity in large numbers of neurons labelled with GCaMP6, and high-speed imaging of zebrafish behaviour. We are examining how neural coding develops in both normal fish and fish mutant for genes linked to autism.

The University of Queensland (UQ) is ranked in the top 3 universities in Australia and the top 100 in the world. The Goodhill lab is part of the Queensland Brain Institute at UQ, a leading neuroscience institute consisting of over 40 labs, including ~100 PhD students and ~100 postdocs.
