The Department of Psychology and the Center for Data Science (CDS) at New York University invite applications for an open rank tenure-track faculty position. The position is to be shared between the two departments. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2017, pending budgetary and administrative approval.

QUALIFICATIONS
Successful applicants will contribute to research and teaching in the following example areas: (1) Utilization of new methods and technologies for studying human behavior, including naturalistic datasets capturing real-world interactions; (2) New computational techniques for modeling human behavior, such as disentangling causal from correlational patterns, for dealing with unstructured and noisy data, and for improving the quality of statistical inference (e.g., new algorithms from statistics and machine learning); (3) The development of new technical infrastructure that can shed insight into human behavior including the design of novel experimental approaches to the study of behavior; (4) Establish deeper connections between human and machine approaches to extracting knowledge from data, potentially leading to new technologies for studying the mind and new algorithms for data science informed by psychological research (e.g., artificial intelligence and machine learning).

Applicants that bridge between the existing research strengths of the Psychology Department and the Center for Data Science are encouraged. In addition to advancing a research program capable of attracting outside funding, applicants will be expected to contribute to the teaching missions of both the Psychology department and the Center for Data Science.
