Applications are invited for a 2.5-years
post-doctoral position in the group of
Prof. Lindner (Theory of Complex Systems
and Neurophysics) at the Bernstein Center
for Computational Neuroscience Berlin
starting in June, 2013.

The focus of the theoretical project is on
the spreading of activity and the signal
transmission in recurrent networks of
spiking neurons. This is motivated by
reverse physiology experiments at the BCCN
Berlin, in which evoked single-neuron
activity in the cortex causes behavioral
or motor responses. Ideally, theoretical
insights will be instrumental for the
interpretation of experimental data and
the formulation of novel experimental
questions.

In order to pursue this kind of research,
the successful candidate should have a
strong interest in developing analytical
approaches for the stochastic dynamics of
single neurons and neural networks. A
background in theoretical physics,
nonlinear dynamics, and/or the theory of
stochastic processes is thus advantageous
although not obligatory. The position will
also entail a moderate amount of teaching
as well as the co-supervision of PhD and
Master students.

Applications, including a motivation
letter, a CV, and, a list of three
potential referees should be send by email to
