Dear Colleague (sorry for any cross posting)

We want to invite you and your co-workers to participate in the
Barcelona Cognition, Brain, and Technology (BCBT) summer school to be
held at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra from September 7 to18, 2009
(http://www.iua.upf.edu/bcbt09)
BCBT'09 is a two-week event focusing on the understanding, development
and deployment of biomimetic and biohybrid systems with emphasis on the
analysis and synthesis of mind and brain. It will be of great interest
to students and researchers in cognitive science, neuroscience,
artificial intelligence, and allied disciplines.
This is the 2nd year of BCBT which ran with great success in 2008.
BCBT'09 combines lectures with hands-on skill acquisition and
experimentation. It is composed of 6 different but interrelated
sessions: (i) Hybrid-like brain systems, (ii) Replication, simulation,
validation, and emulation of biological systems, (iii) Principles and
technology of biologically based cognitive architectures, (iv) Learning,
development, and adaptation, (v) Systems-level explanation of brain
function, and (vi) Consciousness: mechanisms and functions. For a full
list of speakers, visit http://www.iua.upf.edu/bcbt09/.

BCBT is a bottom-up activity supported by a number of FP6 & FP7 projects
in the areas of cognitive systems and bio-ict convergence (see
http://www.iua.upf.edu/bcbt09 for a list). All members of these and
similar projects are invited to participate supported by their
respective projects. In addition, BCBT has a number of student
scholarships available.

To apply, please register at http://www.iua.upf.edu/bcbt09/. Please
note that the deadline for registration is soon, i.e. June 30. If you
have any further questions, please contact bcbt at iua.upf.edu.

We look forward to welcoming you at BCBT'09,

Paul Verschure (chair)
Tony Prescott
Anil Seth
Tom Ziemke

BCBT is supported by:
