about patenting multiplication was misunderstood by many people. I
expected that announcing that I had patented multiplication would
sound so ridiculous, that it would help make the whole issue of
patenting algorithms ridiculous too. Just to make things clear, I am
strongly against the patenting of algorithms.

Multiplication cannot be patented, because it is in the public domain.
In fact, I thought that most people knew this, and that the meaning of
the announcement of having patented multiplication would therefore be
clear. Apparently, it was not clear to everyone. Sorry.
