Connectionists: PhD-studentships in Machine Learning at the MPI for Biological Cybernetics

Positions for PhD-studentships are available in B. Schölkopf's
Empirical Inference department at the Max Planck Institute in
Tuebingen, Germany (see http://www.kyb.tuebingen.mpg.de/bs), in the
following areas:

- application of kernel methods such as SVMs and Gaussian Processes to
  problems in robotics and computer vision (*)
- learning theory and learning algorithms, in particular kernel machines and
methods for dealing with structured data
- machine learning for computer graphics
- machine learning for brain computer interfacing
- modelling and learning from multi-electrode neural recordings

[The position (*) is funded by an EU research training network and is
only available for EU nationals outside of Germany.]

We invite applications of candidates with an outstanding academic
record including a strong mathematical or analytical background.

Max Planck Institutes are publicly funded research labs with an
