     Postdoctoral Research Position in Machine Learning
        School of Information and Computer Science
             University of California, Irvine

A full-time post-doctoral position is available in the area
of machine learning at UC Irvine, focusing on research in
probabilistic modeling of large data sets such as text
corpora and Web-related data.

Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science,
Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a
closely-related discipline, with an emphasis on machine learning
or applied statistics. Knowledge of probabilistic learning
methods (such as the EM algorithm or Bayesian learning), as
well as programming experience in languages such as
C/C++ or MATLAB, are also desirable.

The salary range for this position is $45k to $60k annually,
commensurate with training and experience. The appointment
will be for a 1 or 2-year period beginning in September 2003.
