PhD studentship in Neural Networks for Natural Language Processing

Applications are invited for a PhD studentship in machine learning applied
to natural language processing, available immediately.  The successful
candidate will join the Artificial Intelligence Research Group, Computer
Science Department, University of Geneva.  They will pursue research in
connection with a project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation
developing neural network and semi-supervised machine learning techniques
for application to very broad coverage natural language parsing.

Candidates should have the following qualifications or a substantial subset
thereof (comprising at the very least those marked as mandatory):

   - an outstanding academic record in computer science as well as
     strong mathematical and programming skills (mandatory)
   - a solid background in machine learning (mandatory).  Knowledge of neural
     networks will be an asset
   - knowledge of natural language processing or computational linguistics,
     or at least a strong interest in language technology
   - a clear aptitude for independent and creative research as evidenced by
     an excellent Master's thesis
   - good communication skills in English and French (or at least a clear
     indication of willingness to learn the latter)


The salary for a PhD student is around 47500 Swiss Francs per annum.
