POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS IN COMPUTATIONAL NEUROSCIENCE

Two postdoctoral positions are available to conduct interdisciplinary
research on neuronal population coding, working with Drs Kenneth Harris and
Gyorgy Buzsaki, at Rutgers University.

Information is processed in the brain by the co-operative action of large
numbers of neurons. It is now possible to record from hundreds of neurons
in parallel, offering an unprecedented opportunity to discover the operating
principles of neuronal circuits. However, the full potential of this data
will only be realized through radical innovation in the techniques used for
its analysis and interpretation.

We are seeking postdoctoral associates to develop and use new methods for
analysis of simultaneously recorded spike trains from hippocampus,
neocortex, and other systems, and to build models of population function
based on their conclusions. The ideal candidate would have a background in
mathematics, physics, statistics, computer science, or a related field, as
well as a strong interest in neuroscience. Ability to program in C/C++ and
MATLAB is also highly desirable.

Rutgers University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
Qualified women and minority candidates are encouraged to apply.

Interested candidates should send a CV, statement of research interests, and
names and email addresses of two references to
