DIRECTOR OF THE INSTITUTE OF COGNITIVE SCIENCE

The Institute of Cognitive Science at the University of Colorado,
Boulder, is looking for a cognitive psychologist to become its
Director. The director should be a person with a distinguished
academic career and some experience and interest in the duties of an
executive position in academic administration. Exceptional individuals
in any of the cognitive sciences other than cognitive psychology will
also be considered. The Director is expected to create and promulgate
the vision for the Institute's future.  This requires leadership
skills and active interfacing with members of the supporting
departments, CU administration, and various national and international
agencies and businesses whose agendas are relevant to ICS research and
academic program goals. The core departments that make up the
Institute of Cognitive Science include Psychology, Computer Science,
Education, Linguistics, Philosophy, and Speech/Language & Hearing
Sciences.  The Director must be eligible for tenure as Full Professor
in one of these home departments.  The expected balance of duties are
40% service, 40% research, 20% teaching. The position start date is
August 2003.  The desired application deadline is December 31, 2002,
