Dear Connectionists,

I thought our website would be of interest to many of you:
http://www.nsi.edu/nomad. The NOMAD (Neurally Organized Mobile Adaptive
Device) project was established in order to study the principles of brain
function by using real-world devices controlled by nervous systems simulated
according to biological principles. These devices learn through their
experience about features in its environment, in much the same way as living
creatures do.

The website contains descriptions, pictures, movies and recent publications.
The most recent publication, J.L. Krichmar, G.M. Edelman, (2002) Machine
Psychology: Autonomous Behavior, Perceptual Categorization and Conditioning
in a Brain-Based Device, Cerebral Cortex 12:818-830, is available in pdf
format (http://www.nsi.edu/nomad/pubs.htm).

Best regards,

Jeff Krichmar
