Lectureship in Mathematics, University of Bristol.

Applications are invited for a permanent Lectureship in
Mathematics in the Department of Engineering Mathematics,
University of Bristol, United Kingdom. Candidates should
preferably have research interests overlapping with current
interests in the department which include computational
intelligence (support vector machines, neural computing,
machine vision, logic programming, reasoning with uncertainty,
etc). Candidates should have an excellent track record in
research since the opening is in competition with the
Nonlinear Dynamics Group in the department which typically
gains a strong international field of applicants. Since
the department is in a Faculty of Engineering our lecturing
is strongly oriented towards applied mathematics. The
department runs its own degree programmes in addition to
providing mathematical or theoretical computer science
courses for degree programmes elsewhere in the Faculty.
The department achieved a score of 5 in the last Research
Assessment Exercise (1996) and 23/24 for the HEFCE TQA
assessment of its courses. For further details see:

or contact Dr. Colin Campbell (C.Campbell at bris.ac.uk).

The closing date for applications is
*** 15th October 2000 ***.
