                          RESEARCH POSITION
 
            Max-Planck-Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience
               Workgroup on Signal and Image Processing
 
 The Workgroup on Signal and Image Processing is seeking applicants
 for a Post-Doctoral Research Position in the area of image processing
 as applied to the analysis of anatomical data as revealed by magnetic
 resonance imaging (MRI).
 
 The successful applicant will be expected to participate in an
 advanced research and development effort centered on the following
 topics:
  o image segmentation of pathological MRI data
  o statistical analysis of characteristics of brain lesions
  o detection of changes in brain lesions with time
 
 Successful applicants should have an advanced degree in Mathematics,
 Physics, Computer Science or Medical Informatics, and significant 
 experience in image processing as applied to medical problems. The 
 term of the position is currently limited to one year, with a possible 
 extension of another year. A starting date around January 2000 is 
 expected. A competitive salary will be offered, with actual salary 
 dependent on the applicant's qualifications and experience.
