QuickCog Development Environment

Dear Colleagues,

this is to announce the availability of a novel PC based (Windows 95/98/NT) 
development environment, which serves as rapid and efficient system design
tool for image processing and general pattern recognition applications, 
e.g. for automated visual inspection tasks.
Fast and transparent design of technical cognitive systems is provided by
the following key features:
 
-  Visual programming and sample set oriented processing
-  Interactive menu-driven creation of arbitrary sample sets, 
   ROI definition/object partitioning and consistent preclassification 
-  Proven methods of image processing, feature computation, 
   classification and evaluation unified in a single system
-  Feature space visualisation and interactive analysis by dimension reducing
   mappings and interactive feature maps, assessment functions for system
   discriminance, method selection, and parameter settings. 
   (The enclosed QuickMine-Toolbox also allows visual data analysis for 
   arbitrary data) 
-  Automatic feature selection by parametric and nonparametric methods
-  Efficient and easy to use classification methods, including 
   centroid  classifier, nearest-neighbor-techniques, artificial neural 
   networks, and a rule-based classifier

Currently, the system is available in German only, as it was commercialised on 
the German market in 1998, but an English version will be available soon.
The description of the various included methods can be found in my doctoral
thesis from 1995 (http://www.iee.et.tu-dresden.de/~koeniga), also in German.
Several publications, that describe the main features of the system, are 
available in English from the QuickCog home page.
