Carnegie Mellon University seeks applications for several vacant
position in the areas of

        * machine learning / neural networks

        * multi-agent systems

        * distributed databases

        * adaptable software

        * distributed mobile robotics

        * security

for U.S.-Government-funded research projects jointly carried out by
the Computer Science Department (CSD), Institute for Complex
Engineered Systems (ICES), the the Robotics Institute (RI), and the
newly created Center for Automated Learning and Discovery (CALD).

Applications are solicited at the research programmer, postdoc, and
research faculty level. Prospective research programmers should hold a
B.S. degree (or equivalent) and have extensive programming experience
in C, C++ and/or Java.  Prospective Postdocs and research faculty
should hold a Ph.D. degree and have strong interests in scientific
research and track records in one or more areas listed
above. Applications from outside the US are welcome. Applications
should include a CV, a statement of interest (1-2 pages), a recent
relevant paper (if available), and a list of three or more
references. We anticipate filling these positions at the earliest
conveinence.
