PhD-fellowship in Computer Science, Technische Universitaet Berlin,
Germany

Acquisition and Analysis of Optical Imaging Data from
Primate Visual Cortex

The Neural Informations Processing Group (Department of Computer
Science,Technische Universitaet Berlin, Germany) solicits applications
for a
predoctoral fellowship. The applicant is expected to join an
international collaborative project which aims at the development of new
methodologies for image acquisition, image analysis, and for the
separation of different superimposed signal components from optical
imaging data, which are recorded from primate visual cortex. Although
focus will be on statistical signal processing, the applicant is also
expected to participate in the setup of a time-resolved optical imaging
system as well as in its modification for depth-resolved measurements
of cortical activity.

Applicants should have a strong background in a theoretical
discipline, such as physics, mathematics, electrical engineering or
computer science, should have gained experience with both hardware
(optics, electronics) and programming (C, C++), and should be familiar
with signal processing techniques. In addition, applicants should be
willing to stay abroad for parts of the project. Prior biological or
neuroscience training is not required but the applicant is expected to
acquire the relevant expertise during the project.

The position is initially for one year with possible extension of up to
five years. Salary is commensurable to BAT IIa / 2.

Please send applications including copies of certificates, CV, list of
publications, statement of research interests and list of skills
relevant to the project to:
