I've been following your comments on localisation (or lack of it) of
language with interest.  I'd be further interested to know what you think
of dissociation findings such as that reported by McCarthy and Warrington
(Nature 334, 428-430).  They have a patient who is apparently unable to
identify animals from their spoken names, but quite able if presented
with a picture.  There are many other such dissociations.  Do you think
they are of general applicability, or is language processing so variable
that they should be treated as one offs?
