Hi Alexis....I never said non-deterministic computing engines buy you
anything.  I simply said that whatever type of PDP engine 
(deterministic or non-deterministic) you have, it
must solve an inductive logic problem and the correct 
(but typically intractable) way to solve
such problems is to use probabilistic inference.   Regarding chaos,
the only useful reason for having chaos in a dynamical system that
I can see is that it might be mathematically impossible to represent
certain distributions of attraction basins in a non-chaotic dynamical
system.  But I agree with
you that just introducing chaos with the hopes that your network
will do something neat is pretty naive I think.
