<b><i>Frontiers Robotics and AI</i></b> is seeking contributions regarding the <b>
translation and implementation of Robotics and embodied AI in healthcare</b>. More specifically, we are seeking papers for a special issue with a primary focus on the socio-technical complexities of introducing and integrating embodied AI and robotic systems
outside of the lab and into real world healthcare environments.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:8.0pt"><span style="color:black">Robots and AI have long been proposed to assist in healthcare domains. We recognize a significant gap in literature that reports on the successes, struggles, and insights generated from
implementation efforts. To evaluate the real potential of robotics and AI to “Transform” the landscape of medicine, it is necessary to generate evidence of their true impact in the real world.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:8.0pt"><span style="color:black">In order to fit within the scope of this collection, submissions must incorporate these initial themes: <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:8.0pt"><span style="color:black">(1) embodiment (e.g., robotic platforms, AI within physical sensors or job aids outside of a traditional computer terminal)<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:8.0pt"><span style="color:black">(2) evaluation of a system's anthropomorphic qualities, and their impact on Human-Robot Interaction (HRI), or Human-AI Interaction (HAI). <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:8.0pt"><span style="color:black">In addition, we are seeking submissions that will primarily focus on these key topics: <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:8.0pt"><span style="color:black">(1) a focus on healthcare domains, which can be either patient or clinician facing (i.e., the robots/embodied AI can assist patients, clinicians, or both)<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:8.0pt"><span style="color:black">(2) research includes a primary or secondary focus on designing or evaluating efforts to implement and translate AI and robotic platforms into real world environments.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
