<p>We have an open PhD Position in an DFG granted project for up to
three years. <br>

<p>The interdisciplinary project aims to model the role of the
self through interaction with a spatial/dynamic environment.<br>
The project combines research approaches from cognitive science,
computer science and modelling and is carried out in cooperation
with Prof. Stefan Kopp (University of Bielefeld), (SPP 2134 "The
Active Self").<br>
A cognitive architecture will be extended with sensorimotor
abilities based on a simulated body. This approach aims to model
how a representation of the "self" is created through the
interaction of sensomotoric and cognitive control processes and
how it affects action decisions. We offer a young,
interdisciplinary research group bridging basics and application
as well as cognitive sciences and computer science.</p>

</p>
<ul>
<li>Extending the cognitive architecture ACT-R with sensorimotor
skills</li>
<li>Developing task models interacting with their environments</li>
<li>Integration of prediction-based processing</li>
<li>Coordination with project partner at CITEC University
Bielefeld</li>
<li>Preparation, execution and evaluation of experiments</li>
<li>Consolidation of model approaches and comparison with
performance data</li>
</ul>
<p>Requirements: We are looking for an interdisciplinary
interested and open-minded person with a university degree<br>
(Diplom/ M.Sc. or equivalent) in Cognitive Science, Computer
Science, Human Factors, Psychology or similar. The candidate<br>
ideally has the following skills and knowledge:<br>
</p>
<ul>
<li>Previous experience with interdisciplinary projects </li>
<li>Experience in the field of cognitive modeling or simulation
(e.g. ACT-R), <br>
</li>
<li>basic knowledge in cognitive science and fundamental
programming experience (e.g. Python, Lisp, etc.) <br>
</li>
</ul>
Ideally, the person sought should have experience in carrying out
and evaluating experiments. In addition, an interest in<br>
autonomously acting agents would be of advantage and prior
knowledge in the field of self-understanding or embodiment.<br>
Good english skills are desired.</div>
