<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">The Air Force Research Laboratory's Performance and Learning Models (PALM) Research Team is seeking highly qualified candidates to fill a software engineer/research programmer position working on-site with us in Mesa, Arizona.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">The PALM Team's overarching scientific objective is to improve on our understanding of human perceptual, cognitive, and motor processes. We do this by conducting empirical research and creating computational and mathematical models of results and phenomena of interest. Current research areas include spatial competence, the effects of fatigue on cognition, language-enabled synthetic entities, the micro-dynamics of learning and forgetting, and the development of large-scale computational infrastructures that enable faster scientific progress in cognitive science. Applications of interest to our team include synthetic teammates, pedagogical agents, and analysis tools for performance optimization.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">The position we currently have available will primarily involve the ongoing development of our software infrastructure for the efficient and effective use of high performance and volunteer computing resources for cognitive modeling. This position requires 3+ years experience with C/C++ & Linux. Preferred candidates will have a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Cognitive Science, or a related discipline, as well as experience with Lisp, Java, PHP, MySQL, Windows and Mac OS. Consideration will be given to experience in lieu of education. The position is only available to U.S. citizens who are eligible to obtain a U.S. Secret security clearance.</FONT></P>
